Hi, so I have this map that I used for my single player and now my server, We're building a city, and the map is 80+ MB, is there a way I could reduce that size?
Thanks, TheDrowningDuck.

The minecraft map can render up to 1,250,000 blocks, aproximately. It's physically impossible to reduce a map size unless you had some kind of mod that just stopped it from rendering at a certain distance.

Actually you can do it with MCEdit. I reduce maps all the time. As for preventing people from exploring, the wall thing is your best bet.
Did your world disappear from minecraft? Is it corrupt? Lags? Can't move? "Saving Chunks" Crash? Crashes when you open chests? It can be saved!

You would need a wall made of bedrock that goes from bed rock to the skylimit and then you would still need to use a mod that prevents placement of blocks so they couldn't make stairs down... Actually a wall too tall to jump over and a mod set up so blocks with in say 5 blocks of the wall can't be destroyed / placed so they can't build stairs to go over and they can't dig under/through. The wall would still need to be tall enough that nobody could just make a rail or cannon high up to launch them self over too.

Did you read Op's post? He said the file is 80 MB. 1,250,000 is the rendered amount. The other map data still takes up space/memory. But, yeah you'd have to use McEdit.
